14-Year-Old Charged in Carjacking of a Detroit Woman

A 14-year-old male has been charged as a juvenile in connection with the carjacking of a 45-year-old Detroit woman.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said that on Monday, around 4:30 a.m., the juvenile was driving the stolen car recklessly at a high rate of speed near Rockdale and Majestic Streets on Detroit's west side when he crashed near a home in the 7300 block of Rockdale Street.

Officers responded, and the youth fled on foot. After a brief chase, he was arrested. Medics then transported the juvenile to a local hospital for treatment.

The juvenile faces charges of concealing a stolen vehicle, resisting and obstructing a police officer, and leaving the scene of an accident.

A preliminary hearing was set for Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Juvenile Detention Facility in the Wayne County Criminal Justice Center before Referee Leslie Graves.
